Day 3
Dr. Ilaria Malanchi
Ilaria Malanchi's lab studies the crucial interactions between tumor cells and the microenvironment. This crosstalk is extremely important in the process of tumor initiation and metastasis formation. Therefore, understanding this mechanism can lead to the discovery of novel cancer therapies targeting this interaction.

Genome editing

Dr. Tilmann Bürckstümmer
Tilmann Bürckstümmer works for Horizon Discovery and his team has developed a novel technique of introducing foreign DNA sequences in a genomic locus using the CRISPR-Cas9 system. Their system allows to tag any gene without the use of adjacent plasmid sequences.
Return to Zürich
12:00-15:00

Metastasis and microenvironment

Dr. Nicola Aceto
Nicola Aceto 's lab strives to understand cancer cell migration and the essential molecular drivers of this process. Understanding the changes and interactions of circulating tumor cells during migration is crucial for the development of metastasis-tailored therapy.
